John Martin - Obituary and Statement

COUNTY OF STODDARD |

        On this 9th day of June, 1939, before me personally appeared, John Martin and Maude E. Martin, his wife, of Stoddard County, Missouri, who after being duly sworn according to law, deposes and says:
        That they are the parents of Milo Martin, and that the said Milo Martin was born in Dexter, Stoddard County, Missouri, on the 8th day of September, 1906.
        Affiants further state that the attending physician, Dr. J. L. Slayden, is now deceased.
        Also personally appeared Cora Smith of Stoddard County, Missouri, who after being duly sworn according to law, deposes and says:
        That she was present when the said Milo Martin was born and that he was born in Dexter, Stoddard County, Missouri, on the 8th day of September, 1906, and that the attending physician is now dead.

Obituary of JOHN C. MARTIN


John C. Martin Dies at Home Here

        John Cleavland Martin, son of the late Eleasair and Lucretia Martin, was born at Burnt Prairie, Illinois on Sept. 25, 1884 and passed away at his residence at 212 S. Sassafras Street in Dexter on May 12, 1858 at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 17 days.
Mr. Martin had lived in or near Dexter since the year of 1903. He was united in marriage to Maude Elizabeth Ice at Dexter, Missouri in the year of 1904, and to this union five children were born. His wife proceeded him in death on Jan 1, 1949.
        Mr. Martin, was a retired farmer.
        He is survived by his five children, Milo Martin and Mrs. Helen Daniels, both of Flint, Michigan, Russell, Clyde, and Lee A. Martin all of Dexter, Missouri; by 7 grand-children, and 8 great-grand-children; by one sister, Mrs. Emma Winkles of Flint Michigan. Also by a number of relatives and many friends.
        Funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian Church on Thursday afternoon May 15, 1958. Rev. Walter A. Smith officiating, assisted by Rev. Eugene B. Fer??ld. Interment in Dexter Cemetery.
        Strickland-Rainey in charge of arrangements.
